Responsibility

Whee, Warrior is almost done at level 34~

After having another bad party leader I decided to put my money where my mouth was hehe. So I decided to set out and try my hand at party leading ^^

The first party I made was kinda bad. I think we were too low level for the area by 1 or 2 levels ; ;

Second party was also bad, I didn't invite a proper tank... I thought me and another warrior could "juggle" the monsters together. But we at least got a lot of exp, everyone was nice.

Third party was the best so far, but not as good as others I have been in. However I had lots of fun in it. I used a leveling guide to find a good hunting spot for our level, which was "Behemoth's Dominion". It's a little hard to get to, but maybe that is part of its charm ^^. We had to replace one member after an hour, which took a while because we had to clear the cave in Qufim for her. During that our ranger fell asleep so we had to get yet another replacement, etc. Once we FINALLY got everyone in position it was very nice and I hope everyone was happy ;-)

But I still need work on which jobs go well with eachother. Does anyone have any good tips for knowing what jobs to invite? Maybe a guide that summarizes what each job's role is, and some of their key abilities?

Something like:

Warrior = Provides heavy damage, can briefly assist in tanking during emergency
White Mage = Heals everybody and fixes ailments \o/
Black Mage = Heavy magic damage and ability to sleep monsters
Scholar = Mix of healing and black magic
Red Mage = Mix of healing, black magic, enfeebling magic, and melee
Paladin = Nothing you throw at them will kill them! ;-)

and so on ;-P

Keeping Busy

I've been aggressively getting Warrior higher, since it's fun and I can't wait to start Dark Knight when it's done ;-)

There were some really great parties in Qufim and Delkfut's Tower. In one, I gained 3 levels in 2 hours! I think the setup was Bard, Dancer, Dancer,  Scholar, Dragoon, and me! I had lots of fun in that one, but there was one really bad party in Delkfut's Tower. It was late at night so I was probably grumpy and that maybe clouded my opinions, but the leader rarely ever said a word and went afk often. He was the puller so it was somewhat frustrating not knowing what he was bringing to the camp. Then sometimes he would suddenly rest for a few minutes, and suddenly get back up and pull something, all without a word. So we spent about 30-40 minutes during the 2 hour party waiting for him to get back (I assume when he rested it was him afk). At the end he said "afk 10 minutes" and I just disbanded and went to sleep. But, I need to stop complaining because I've had lots of other great parties!

From one of the great parties:

I tried my hand at fishing again yesterday to get some time to myself ;-)

A lot of people loathe it but I think it's fun ^^. It's fun not knowing exactly what is going to come up out of the water, and you have to be careful or you can break your rod ;-O

I fished up around 11 stacks of Moat Carp, and got level 8 fishing skill out of it! That's about 33,000 gil if it all sells. I threw out dozens of Crayfish before I found out you can use them in cooking... so I got level 5 cooking from the Crayfish I didn't throw out (and now using the cooked crayfish on Warrior ^^).

Also it seemed I caught lots of Crayfish at night, and lots of Moat Carp during the day. I wonder if it was just chance, or if there's actually an effect of the sun or time?

Panty shot!

Done with Thief!

mood: lazy lazy

Let's see, I haven't posted much lately mostly due to being very busy. And when I'm not busy, I've rather felt like playing than writing X-D

But, I was able to finish my Thief job to 37 (towards the end I wasn't really enjoying it, glad it's over). After I did that, I decided to go do the dark knight quest finally, and work towards my goal! That was really long though, it took me about 3 days off and on to get the job, and maybe 3 more to upgrade Chaosbringer to Deathbringer :-O

I haven't had a chance to play Dark Knight yet though since I got addicted to Warrior hehe. With Thief I mostly just stood by with lots of 0 damage hits, and once in a while I'd get to do a big 200-400 damage weaponskill. Warrior is a lot more consistent. I can hit for 20-70 damage every swing of the axe, but the downside is my weaponskills don't seem to be anything special. Another added bonus is the job ability Provoke, which lets me DO SOMETHING when I see something bad happening hehe. With Thief I always had to just sit and watch as people got beat up, I like saving people ;-P

I had some free time on Wednesday and noticed there were some more Outpost Supply quests I had access to now, so I accepted them. After some death and adventure with Broodryu, I can now teleport to Li Telor, Fauregandi, and Valdeunia ^^

Also thanks Dot for saving me from killer sheep!!!

I forgot to take any pictures this week, so have a goobbue.

Ramblings

Well the past two days have been a lot better and I've made progress. I had some really great parties and reached my thief goal of level 37, so I should be able to start selling stuff and free up inventory space for a new job ;-)

I'm glad I'm not going higher with thief though, because it is very frustrating when the monster spins and screws up your sneak attack, or if people won't line up correctly. Maybe I'm overthinking it though, and if I miss a sneak/trick attack I should just forget about it..

Takkat took me on a tour of dangerous places and got me some teleport crystals too! :-D

I'm excited to start on a new job, maybe warrior or dark knight if I can unlock it. Probably won't get time to do that until later in the week due to classes though.

Poopy Day

Apr. 11th, 2008 | 11:52 am
location: Jeuno
mood: sad sad

Yesterday wasn't so great ;-(

First I got made fun of in an exp party because I "hesitate while pulling". This is true, as I have to navigate around dangerous goblins to get the good stuff, and I'm also often under the effects of sleep after a battle from the mandragora ability Dream Flower. I'm not really sure how to speed things up. I mean we got chain #4... that's the second highest I've ever gotten so I was quite pleased, but that illusion was shattered when I was told I was slow :-/

Later I joined a party and we went to a new place, Garliage Citadel. Pretty much every time we would fight a monster, something bad would happen. There was another party there that was higher level, killing most of the bats and beetles, so I had to go really far to pull a monster. In that long run, often something would spawn while I was pulling, and link so we'd all have to run away. Or something would spawn on top of us while we were fighting and people would die. By the time we had a good group of people together and could kill bats easily, I had to go to class. . .  *sigh*

Then I noticed I had an outpost supply quest I had never done (Fauregandi). So I tried to salvage the day by doing that. I printed out the maps on how to get there, confident I could tiptoe around any dangerous stuff on the way, like I've been getting good at during pulling. If something bad happened I could just use Flee. Well at one point in Ranguemont Pass I reached a crossroads with a scorpion, I waited 10 minutes for it to move but it wouldn't go far. It looked like I was about halfway through the Pass so I hit Flee and hoped I could blunder through it all. It was working pretty good, but somehow (I'm still not sure) I hit a dead end. About 20 bats and goblins caught up with me there and it was over... so I just gave up and went to sleep :-P

Hopefully today is better!
